On the weekend of August 14-16, 2009, over 1,200 Dark Shadows fans from across the U.S., Canada and Europe gathered together at the Newark Airport Renaissance Hotel in Elizabeth, New Jersey for the Dark Shadows Resurrected weekend, celebrating the 1966-71 "Dark Shadows" television series.
Original "Dark Shadows" actors Jonathan Frid (Barnabas Collins), John Karlen (Willie Loomis), Kathryn Leigh Scott (Maggie Evans), Lara Parker (Angelique), Jerry Lacy (Reverend Trask) and Marie Wallace (Eve) appeared in person as special guests, participating in question-and-answer sessions and autographs as well as offering anecdotes while hosting video clip screenings from the series.
Dozens of devotees dressed up in unique costumes as various "Dark Shadows" or horror/historical genre characters during the Saturday night costume gala. The Collinsport Players presented a clever skit which merged "Dark Shadows" with "Bewitched," including a guest appearance by Lara Parker as Angelique!
Additionally, Jonathan Frid offered a special dramatic performance as the Sunday afternoon finale before the majority of attendees ended the celebration at the evening dinner, where door prizes were handed out by Lara, and Marie and Kathryn offered a toast to the convention's success and everyone who contributed. A special video presentation closed out the night.
Fans also learned that the next cast reunion-convention will be called Dark Shadows In The Sun, which will be held the weekend of July 16, 17 & 18, 2010, at the Burbank Airport Hotel & Convention Center in California, five minutes from Hollywood!
